Parents are bombarded with requests that require a yes or no answer. Many of these requests are asked without the background information with which a parent can make an informed decision. Many requests are asked when a parent is distracted. Your child/children know how and when to ask for the privileges or items that may not be customary for him or her. If it’s a hasty yes, one may regret it. If it’s a no and begging follows one always regrets it. Giving in after a begging is a costly proposition. Saying yes after being nagged guarantees that “no” can often mean maybe. How can this be avoided. Prepare the plan to be put into place. Preparing for this type of situation beforehand and discussing your stance on consequences could mean that you will be taken at your word. “No always means “no”.
